Here is a cool Rockabilly style lick, using the diminished scale. The Diminished is scale is extremely power and versatile, and it is also symmetrical. This means that you can play ideas from the scale, and then just slide the idea around the fretboard using minor thirds (3 frets), and you’ll still be in Diminished Land. Super cool.

This Mixolydian guitar lick is an interesting one. It works great over static chords. The example here works over E7 or other E dominant chords. However, try also to play it over A major, since the notes of A major scale and E mixolydian have the same notes.
By the way, Joe Bonamassa often uses this type of run in his solos. Sounds great with distortion!
The Hendrix Chord is a great chord, but did you know there are actually two types of chords he used a lot? This lesson shows you both, where one is a 7#9 chord, and the other is a Major Triad grip, with the thumb playing the bass. This works for Minor chords as well. Tapping is the technique where you use the right hand to “tap” and often there is a pull-off involved as well. This lesson uses sweep picking for the first 4 notes, then it does tapping and pull-offs, hammer-ons and bends, to create this awesome sounding lick.
